An Andean ritual of Ayni (reciprocity) and harmony with Pachamama.
Each despacho is a living prayer woven from flowers, seeds, sugar, and leaves.
Both forms of despacho (black +white) embody the core shamanic principle of energetic reciprocity.
White despachos are used for blessings, gratitude, and the manifestation of positive intentions. These offerings are typically filled with sweet, light-colored items, such as sugar, white flowers, corn, candies, seashells, and llama fat. They are used to attract harmony, love, abundance, and healing. White despachos are created with reverence and intention, each item placed with prayerful focus, symbolising elements of life and spirit. Once complete, the bundle is offered to fire, buried, or placed in running water to carry the prayer into the spiritual realms.
Black despachos, on the other hand, are used for clearing heavy or stagnant energies, releasing pain, illness, or spiritual blockages. These offerings often include bitter or dark elements, such as ashes, charcoal, dark leaves, or items representing the energies being released. A black despacho is a ritual of purification and transformation, allowing an individual to surrender what no longer serves them. Once created, it is typically burned, symbolising the transmutation of dense energy into light.
By giving back to the earth and spirits, practitioners seek to align themselves with the natural flow of life. More than symbolic acts, these rituals are powerful, intentional acts that open a spiritual dialogue, promote healing, and affirm a sacred connection to the living universe.
